LA
After one short and two long flights, and several hours in between, Ray definitely was not interested in getting a car and driving several hours to our next destination, so the best option was to take a break and book a night at an airport hotel, one we could reach with a simple shuttle bus with no extra hassle. And that we did. The kids had fantasies of hotel pools but, of course, it was on the chilly side and we were all too tired to even find out about whether this was even a possibility. In fact, when we reached the Quinta Holiday Inn, and cleared the corresponding credit card initial hiccup, Anabel went straight to bed and left the rest of us to find some reasonable place in the vicinity where we could have a bite. There was an interesting Thai option across the road, but Olly still had a craving for American fast food and so we headed down to Denny's a few blocks away where we dutifully sampled nachos, Caesar salad and beef tacos. The following morning, again, American breakfast, less tropical this time.
Before going to pick up another car, and somehow forgetting where we were, we thought we'd take a little walk around the hotel to see what we could see. And then we remembered. There wasn't really much to see except some more hotels and a few restaurants. We did take the chance to take a picture to mark our visit to the city, although it's probably a stretch to think that we actually visited it!

After that, all we had to do was pack our bags again and set off for Bakersfield, our next stop on this tour.
